Directed by Ylan Assefy, this year's Youth Show is based on the hit 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon. Legally Blonde: The Musical
tells the story of Elle Woods, a young woman who enrols at Harvard Law School to win back a former beau. Nobody believes in Elle, but through perseverance and self-belief, she finds unexpected success. This bright, colourful musical has a great score and some fantastic roles, especially for young women. It was hugely successful in both the US and the UK, and won the 2011 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
Auditions will be held at the Institut Florimont on
Wednesday, 17 May 2017 from 7-9 p.m.
Friday, 19 May 2017 from 7-9 p.m.
Saturday, 20 May 2017 from 2-5 p.m.
Audition notes and materials are now available!
The show will be performed on 25-27 August at the Casino Theatre, in downtown Geneva. Rehearsals will start in mid-July. To avoid the absenteeism and high dropout rates that have plagued previous youth shows, a zero-tolerance absences policy will be implemented.
The show is open to any youth still in full-time education: there is no fixed age limit, but the material in the show and the level of commitment required (3-4 rehearsals a week from mid-July to late August) make it unsuitable for anybody below the age of 10.
Ylan would also be happy to hear from you if you’d like to be involved in other aspects of the show. We'd be especially excited to hear from people interested in learning about lighting and sound.
